Symbols/Control marks on coins of Probus
The meaning of some of these marks is not clear at eastern mints.


Crescent

At Antioch, emission mark (?) for some coins of 2nd emission.(?)

At Rome, emission mark (4).
At Rome in the 4th (?) emission also to left and right.


At Tripolis, the mark of the second officina, in first emission only.



Dotted crescent

At Rome, emission mark (4 ?).



Dot

Punctuation sometimes used to separate parts of titulature e.g.

IMP C PROBVS •P• F•AVG

Frequent at Lugdunum, sometimes found on coins of Ticinum.

Rarely on coins of Ticinum a terminal dot in obverse legend.

At Antioch also found on aurei A• (Antioch + series mark?).

At Cyzicus very infrequently a "separator" beween value mark XXI and officina mark.

At Serdica, in some series a "separator" between value mark KA and officina mark.

At Siscia, a "separator" between value mark XXI and officina mark on coins
of 8th and 9th emissions.

At Tripolis a terminal dot in reverse legend (series mark?).



Star

At Antioch on coins of 2nd emission, with KA.

At Cyzicus, emission mark (1) for coins marked P/XXI-V/XXI.

At Lugdunum, only on exceptional coins struck from reverse die of Tacitus.

At Rome, emission mark (3).

At Tripolis, the mark of the first officina.

At Serdica, emission mark (1) with Alpha-Gamma and alone, (2) with KAA-KADelta

At Siscia, emission mark (5) with Latin officina marks, (8) with Greek officina marks.

At Ticinum, on some coins of second emission and emission mark (10).

At Rome, emission mark (6)



Wreath (Corona)

At Rome, emission mark (5).

At Tripolis, mark of the second officina, in second emission only.
